Summer has proved to be a wonderful foundation bitch for Schallenberg exhibiting all the qualities we were looking for to carry the strength of the Schallenberg programme forwards in leaps and bounds. We feel extremely lucky to have her. From a predominantly Swiss pedigree, she has the substance & breed type rarely seen in a bitch, and the wonderful temperament so prevalent in her ancestry. At 45kgs, Summer is heavily muscled, and an absolute powerhouse on the move yet still retains her femininity, beauty and classical European look. We have enjoyed a great deal of success with her in the showring. Her sterling temperament and character make her a pleasure to take anywhere, and super reliable!
Yum had a tumor removed from her stomach in November 2012 which was hystio - yes the world we all in the Berner world hate to hear but the vets got good margins and she recovered well. Sadly in April she stopped eating - we knew something was definitely wrong and suspected the hystio was back - it was and sadly Summer passed away in our arms early on Saturday morning (20 July 2013). There are no words to describe what Summer meant to us - she was one in a million and has left a great legacy behind. She was the matriarch of the household and everyone did what YumYum told them to - especially Memphis!! She has left a huge hole in our lives and household and we miss her greatly every single day - run free Yum - and thank you for all the laughs, memories, puppies and grandpuppies you left behind - you will always be remembered xxxxx
